My first job interview

I had just done my interview with Westports Sdn Bhd. I got two panels, a chinese and some india guy, forgot to ask their name. Before the interview, I was required to done a paper test consist of IQ, personality, math, English grammar test and an essay about qualities of great leader toward his teams.

Ohh, ok. So tell us about yourself

I am Ahmad Faiz from Penang. I am 23 years old. I’ve done my degree on electrical system engineering at University Malaysia Perlis. My hobby is swimming and sport activities. I have two sisters. My father is a retired army officer and my father is a housewife (bluffing). In college I join the electrical system student club where I help the club organize various activities regarding student affairs.

Ok, why you want to join Westports?

I know this company from the advertisement in Harian Metro. As I just finished study last month and still searching for job, thus I apply for the position in your company. I am interested to gain experience in the vessel and yard field as my uncle who is a crane driver working in Penang Port said that the prospect in this field are good.

So why you don’t apply job in Penang Port?

Em, there is no job available there.

What do you know about Wesports?

What is your strength?

My strength is my willingness to learn. I know that everybody have the ability to do this job. I also have this ability. but i will bring another quality for this job that is my attitude toward success and I will not give up to achieve it

what is your weakness and how you overcome it?

My weakness is time management and i will overcome this with responsibilities. With responsibilities, I will use it to improve time management.



There are others question that i don't remember and to be honest i just say what comes in my mind.

R u a gamer?

Yes, I am a gamer and I'm proud of it. I start playing video games when I'm 5. You can blame my dad for the influences. . I like playing lots of games genre. The one I adore most is RPG. (info:RPG stands for role-playing games). Sometimes I play action and 1st person shooter too. Why i loves video games you may ask? because it takes you to a another world. Virtual reality world where you are the hero and here you can be badass. Just forget all problem and play. play till your hand numb. Here is some of the games I just love.

Final fantasy IX. The very first RPG I play in my life using psone game console. Addicted with this games. I just fell in love with the story and quirky characters.

Prince of Persia series ia a great fantasy slash adventure games with lots of jumping, slashing and time travelling. Yes, time travelling for god sake. They've done a movie based on this games.

Metal Gear Solid series and the coolest from the series is Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater.Set in the Cold War-era Soviet Union, the story centers on FOX operative Naked Snake as he attempts to rescue a weapons designer and sabotage an experimental superweapon located in Soviet jungle.

Silent hill is creepy. My favourite among the series is Silent Hill 2. In the games, James Sunderland must survive in a town call silent hill after receiving a letter from his wife Mary, despite her being dead for three years. Wtf?

Alter ego

An essential characteristic of the superhero mythology is, there's the superhero, and there's the alter ego. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When he wakes up in the morning, he's Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man. And it is in that characteristic that Superman stands alone. Superman did not become Superman, Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red "S", that's the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears, the glasses, the business suit, that's the costume. That's the costume Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent? He's weak, he's unsure of himself... he's a coward. Clark Kent is Superman's critique on the whole human race.

About her

This current girl I have relationship with, I cannot say that she is the gorgeous girl. She's chubby and not so tall but I think I love her.
When it comes down to it, beauty is just mere looks. Sometimes I’ve keep thinking about it and comparing her with my past relationships. Sometimes when dating her I got doubts whether she is the one but when we are out together, she never fails to cheer me up. She's caring and knows how to treat me, and it’s all real not like plastic people trying to be perfect all the time.
I don’t want to love someone because she's beautiful now because after a few years when they’re older, their beauty will not last. It’s not fair. Just my 2 cents.

About Me

This is my essay that I wrote in order to obtain my scholarship.

Of course I would like to think that I am wonderful and naturally, I would like others to see me as wonderful too. But I think I would be kidding myself and I certainly don’t think anyone else would be fooled very long. All right then, I am not wonderful. So what am I then?

My name is Faiz. I am 21 years old this year. I was born on 6^th December 1987 at Hospital Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia. I stand 175 cm tall and I’m not particularly of heavy build man. So now my physical appearance is out of the way, Personally, I am an easy going, friendly, determined and ambitious type of person. I guess because of my determination, therefore I always manage to do well at school. I believe that hard work will be paid off. Now, I am studying at some college majoring in electrical engineering.

I came from a very small family. I have three siblings and I am the second children. My sister is still pursuing her study in a university whereas my younger sister is in secondary school. Both of my parents work in some company in the Human Resource Department.

I love doing things - things that matter. From young, I had decided that I was going to makes difference in this world. It may seem that I’m indulging in some romantic fantasy but I’d like to assure you that I’m not. I may not be Yoshitaka Amano or Valentino Rossi but in my own way, I know I can make a difference.

I enjoy my life. I love playing rugby and video games. I love company and have numerous friends of both sexes. Presently my interest is reading books. I love to learn new things. In fact I have this great thirst to learn new skill every year. I join English Language Society where I hold a position as one of the committee member of the club. I’ve done a community service this year which I help to clean school and gives educational clinic to the secondary student. It had been a wonderful experience because the activities suited me fine, considering that they were service-oriented. In a way it satisfied my desire to serve others.

Now that I’m pursuing my study of higher education, I would like to give serious thought to my future career. I want it to be meaningful to me as well as my family and people around me. I would like a chance to prove to this world that one can lead a fairly average life and still help others. Goodness must come out of ordinary lives and this I believe is something I can do. However, deep in my heart I knew that it is not a smooth and easy road to travel. I need to overcome various problems especially financial problem in order to support my study. Having the opportunity to apply for this scholarship is such a rare opportunity that I knew I must grab and give a try.
